Vermicompost ready to harvest?

I have a single homemade tote bin that I started in February. Used shredded newspaper, some coir, and some cardboard for bedding, feeding kitchen scraps when needed. I had hoped to have my first batch of castings ready for planting. There is still a good amount of shredded paper, but the rest looks like nice black castings. So, can I go ahead and use some when planting tomatoes over the next couple of weeks, even with the paper? That is, if it ever decides to stop snowing and have spring.
