don't 'look' for activity, have faith and give them food regularly, they'll get it on as soon as conditions dictate, do you like an audience? :) - if you can see the clitellum [the band around the body that's the sex organ] they're mature enough to breed, if not they'll mature soon at that size, but they don't breed unless they "feel at home" and have food

a few days isn't time for them to settle in, they don't run laps around the bin, they just casually slurp up the soft decomposing material, and primarily the bacteria causing the decomposition, which takes awhile to get rolling, more than a few days .... they'll feed on the paper as it gets microbially active [keep it wet], but the bacteria might get a jump start with some soft fruit like melon .... chop things up small for starters and it'll work faster, and yes, a bigger bin would be better

Haha :) I am *trying* not to peek in on them as much, I was just a little worried they were dead or dying because of some environmental problem unforeseen. I added some more worms today, approximately another 50 which brings the total to about 125. After scanning the bedding material they came in, I also found 4 or 5 eggs! I am very excited. I added a bit more egg carton and paper towel roll (chopped up). It smells a little musty in there from the damp paper, I'm guessing this is normal? Here is what I have calculated on feeding them: 1 cup of food per week (after doing some math using their body weight/ food intake ect.) does this sound about right? 1lbs. might be too much. i have about 2000 and i feed them about 2lbs. a week. they will eat the bedding and there own casting again

I feed them one CUP not one POUND. Thanks for the input though.

a cup shouldn't be too much for the population, and as said, they'll happily eat paper bedding if kitchen scraps get slim, and they're such inefficient digesters that they can reprocess their castings for a long time no problem
