Red mites do tend to eat worms. If your bin is not infested with them, I would not worry about them.

Red mites usually mean there is to much food in the bed and it is to damp.

What to do if you get a lot of them??? I have the bin in my laundry room and almost every day I take the lid out on the sun (I live in FL) since it seems like mites mostly hang out on the lid. But what to do when there is more and more of them. I also see that they crawl on worms too. I think I have red mites ( kinda fast and redish /brownish).

Another question: I also have fruit flies that don't really fly. They are little bigger that regular fruit fly. There is not as many of them but if there are two flies there will be hundreds in no time.
