Mexican Flame Vine again....

Hi folks. I saw this plant-Senecio confusus or Pseudogynoxys chenopodiodes-when I was down in Fort Myers and then again up in Madison WI where it was obviously grown as an annual. This has sugfgested to me some ideas for my own work, wherein a part of my job is coming up with designs for our display gardens, etc.

What I'm wondering is just how well it would work to have this species grown, just like all our other annuals/perennials, in the greenhouse as starter plants, then placed out in the landscape, in containers, etc. to be used as an annual. Has anyone this far north ever worked with this species? It almost seems like it could work, but I'd hate to go into it and get poor results, ie. few flowers, lack of development of plant, etc.

It does sound like it is a reasonably vigorous vine in its southern home range. What I'm after is whether by starting plants in the greenhouse, as we do for all our tender annuals, etc. we would end up with viable plants that would bloom significantly during our relatively short growing season. I'm up in Appleton WI, not far from Green Bay.

Thanks for any help or commentary you can offer.
