hello maggie fresh manure can be harmfull to your worms as you say but only for a short time I always leave it for a little while before using. I have never had any trouble, if your precomposted manure has worms already in it then no harm can posibly come to your worm bin. I feel sure about this, it has worked for me for a number of years and never any problems not at all. kind regards John

I'm also interested in using fresh horse manure. You say ¬ I always leave it for a little while before using ¬ it . How many days or weeks you are waiting before using the fresh manure? Do you know how long we have to wait before using the fresh manure once the horses have been dewormed? How long does the medication stays in the horse?

Hello Sylvie,I should imagine there are many treatements all different so I would be reluctant to offer advice as to how long to leave the fresh manure before using however in my case beteen four to six weeks seems to be o k .If you just leave it on the ground in a pile for this time you will see that the native worms have moved into it. when this happens no harm can be done to your worm bin.
