Mold is normal and not only okay but good, and you don't need to worry about acidity (unless you're putting something really strange in your bin). Kelly tells us that all the acidity stuff you read about online is bunk, and I believe everything Kelly tells us.

What are you putting in the bin that is causing acidity problems?

How about eggshells dude. Crush them up and put them in...Perfect source of calcium carbonate.

No need to buy anything but the bin.

You can also buy calcium carbinate sand for hermit crabs. The only drawback is that it is usually brightly colored. I haven't added it yet, but used hermit crab sand, along with their poop and shed exoskeletons is fixin' to be a part of my worm bin.

I have occasional mold blooms in my bin. It runs it's course and goes away. Don't worry about it.

Wanna buy some pH test strips? :) I worried about pH in the beginning, but since worms like a 5.2 environment (about the acidity of a beer), I stopped worrying and started shoveling in the tomato scraps. My worms thrived.

Now ive heard it all. Being a poor reader I see that as im supposed to feed my worms beer. Hops and grains hops and grain wiggle wiggle. once the alchohol was gone it probably would be good for them. I poured some in an outside composter before and it seemed to heat up the bin fast
