Thanks for your BIG hug Arum.I don't think it's a fungus because there are other vines located in the same area surrounder by perennials and annuals.I only pray that the rest don't go the same way.

Am so sorry to hear about your vines. I do hope you are able to find big potted ones to replace them.

Do you have problems with moles? My mom lost two allamanda vines and two jamaica hibiscus plants because a mole chewed through the roots...it also took both hibiscus plants down into it's burrow!

Could also be a mouse or rat? We get rats out here that chew the base of plants looking for moisture/water.

Texaspuddy,a few good hints there,I will have to keep my eyes open to see if I can can see what little critters are the guilty party,it is very disappointing just the same.Big pots just might fill the gaps for the wedding day at least.

Bunnies are to blame for my MGs being snipped off.... I finally sprayed a product called Liquid Fence (smells AWFUL for one day, then you don't notice it but bunnies do). It seems to have done the trick -- now I just wish I'd known about the stuff earlier in the year!

Anytime that's happened to me, it was DH weedwhacking and ........oops! Then to cover it up he sticks the ends back in the soil. I see them wilting and check it out, then he's in deep dudu!

If you cut off the very ends & put the rest of the vines in water will they root??
I know moonflower vine will root beause I have one that
got cut off & I put it in water & now it has roots.

Cottontail rabbits, the S.O.B.'s (sons-of-bunnies) nipped some morning glories off for me. Glad to hear about the "Liquid Fence". May have to try that next year!
