Looked at photo of doorway. It would be nice to see a chandelier hanging low in front of the window over the door. The blank wall needs something. I saw wallpaper framed in frames hung in a similar place on this site that was interesting. Large scale art or large mirrors might work but that wall needs something. Another great option is wallpaper for the foyer... depending on how all of the walls end. If nothing else, you could add color to the walls. I'm not a big color fan but maybe a serene light turquoise color?

I'd also look at unifying the entrance door and the window above with cast plaster trim pieces.

A demilune chest or table with lamp by stairs. A large mirror with upholstered bench on large wall, sconces on either side would be nice. A huge chandelier. Some color on the walls or a fabulous wallpaper. A Rug.

I would focus design efforts on the large wall to the right as you enter the front door. Find a beautiful large credenza - maybe in an antiqued mirrored finish. Flank the entry piece with two small ladies chairs. Add a large piece of art to the mix. I don't think I would put anything into the area below the staircase. Just enjoy the plain curve of the staircase.

I agree with the last comment. I would not put anything there. The curved staircase is elegant and stands on its own.
