I'm interested in the same thing - did you get any responses? I was reading about Mandevilla and Black Eyed Susan Vines. They want a little morning sun, and afternoon shade - but those were the only two I've been able to find. I have the same issue. I have a shade garden that gets dappled sun. I've been trying to grow morning glories and I do get some blooms, but they don't seem to like hot weather, so I'm searching for something that might bloom a little more.

The only problem I think you would have with Mandevilla would be that you're probably only going to be able to have it in Spring and Summer. I tried it here in zone 8 - high desert of So. Calif., I had several, they absolutely did not make thru my winter.

Bleeding Heart has very nice foliage and the flowers are pretty, I have the white & red one not sure yet about it's cold hardiness tho. It might do well with just morning sun. I had 1 on my front porch thru part of the summer, but moved it-got too big, but the spot I moved it to, I think gets too much shade, so it's growing but hasn't flowered in a while.

You might be able to try passionflowers, but most of them seem to prefer a fair amount of sun, but there are so many, that you might be able to find a couple that can handle 3 hours of sun. I have a Blue Crown (Caerulea) that's been on my north facing front porch since last spring. Made thru the winter without losing leaves and has grown and bloomed continuously throughout spring and summer and is still blooming a little, I'm pretty sure it does not get even 3 hours of direct sun.

I am reading about hydrangea vines, they love shade and are very pretty. Now to find seeds and winter sow them..any ideas?
