EEEKKK..I have very small little white thingys in my bin, on top of one banana peel. What are they and are they ok? They are about 1/2 the size of "/" the largest one looks exactly like a grain of white rice. They are not thin like worms, but 'inch' like them.

I checked closer, and the front end is slightly pointed, not the back. They are solid white, not clear, and have bands around them that are hard to see unless you lood really close.

I also have some flys in the bin. I freeze my stuff first before putting in.

Actually I don't know if these are flys at all. Very small like a gnat. but they're the ones that are always flying around your fruit a couple of days after you bring it home. You can't get rid of them, but are only around when fruit is.

I'm in San Diego area if that helps anyone identify it.

Are these ok for the bin? at the happyd ranch page it says that the fungus gnat needs to be controlled. I know these are not fungus gnats because they do not have a dark spot anywhere.

If I need to, I think I can get them out just by taking out the peel.
