#1-You can leave them a while before feeding because some of the bedding materials will act as food too. You will probably only leave them a couple of days before adding a small amount of food. (for the first several feedings, a handfull of food is enough.)

#2-That may vary, Don't put more food in until the previous food is gone, perhaps even wait a day or two after you can't find the previous food.

#3-You might want to add some new bedding every few times you feed. Adding new bedding is a good way to dry things out if they start to get too wet. The old bedding will get digested (read decrease in volume) and you want your worms to have an easier time getting up to the next tray when you start it.

Much of dealing with worms depends on what is going on with them. New worm farmers often run into problems by feeding too much and keeping the bin too wet. Things only need be as damp as a wrung out sponge, often the surface of bedding can dry out yet the lower layers are still quite wet. Sometimes you need to fluff up the lower layers of bedding. Too much food can cause odor and pest problems as well as tending to make things wet. Most people recomend burying food scraps under bedding to help keep smells and pests under control.

Carry on, you should be fine. Worms are easy pets to care for.

When I first started I fed mine every other day (I let them settle for 3 days, I got my mini-tubs at a worm workshop) and then I changed the feeding schedule to once a week and that worked out - lots of Black Gold and lots of worms!

Don't micromanage!! I bet you want to dig around & look at them everyday! Whatever your feeding schedule is - be sure that most of the previous food is gone. I add a little bit of bedding (shredded paper and cardboard) when I feed them, in case the scraps are soggier than they look.

It's soooo much fun!! I WAS going to give some away in little starter kits for Christmas but I changed my mind and am going to keep them!

Last month I transferred the 2 mini-tubs to a 10 gallon plastic container - lots of holes all around and 2 - 1" PVC with lots of holes that I have running THRU the tub. It gets warm here and I don't want them to suffocate or cook.
