I have always figured on biomass doubling, under best circumstances, every 3-4 months. I think it's 21 days to hatch and then 8 weeks to mature.

I heard that the doubling rate is per 3 months.

Ok thanks, I was reading worms could double their numbers every month, it just goes to show how much bad information there is out there.

You also have to take into account that some of them will die.

And how much room you have. They'll limit themselves.

Ok well I knew I wasn't thinking of everything. This is why I like this group.

My bin is a pallet bin, I'm not sure of the size but imagine a cube of standard pallet size.

My goal would be to get enough worms living to handle whatever amounts of OM I can throw at them and have worms for fish food when I get my pond going,

I found a site that said they started with 15 pounds of worms and within 2 years, they estimate they have several BILLION worms, and have outgrown a 3000 square foot breeder house. I find that totally amazing! And here I am, with my pitiful 2 bins after 4-5 months.
