Just to make sure. Could these little dark uniform things be the worm poops or worm casts? I remember in my first bin it seemed like a sudden transformation from worms in bedding and food to everything covered in little worm poops.

They are tiny, mine seem to be casting a medium dark brown.

TCLYNX: I don't think so - a lot were on the inside of the cover (their ceiling) so I washed those off because I don't want to freak out the neighbors in case they are eggs of BUGS!

Anywhere the worms go, they can deposit castings. If your worms like to wander up onto the underside of the lid, the castings would probably stick there too. But in any case, you should find out in a few days. If there are more and more of these specs and they don't hatch into anything, you will know.

TC: I think they are some kind of BUG! I saw some crawling around so I rinsed the rest into the YARD!!

Could they possibly be mites? Some mites don't move around much, and others move a lot. Mites also come in a lot of different colors.

I don't know what happened - and I see those round things in the "cast" too - but not all the time. I'm going to dig some up and take it to the worm place one weekend and find out what it is. . . they aren't egg sacs! Drats!!

And SOME grow legs and move around and others just stay round and shiny. . . well, I'm feeding this weekend too so I'll report back on those THINGS!! Hopefully they are GONE!
