My name is Cal, I am new to Garden Web.

I am having some trouble with my lawn in Virginia. Just when I thought I had it figured out, my lawn decided to grow a massive amount of weeds when I went away.

Before I went away, I had put down spring pre-emergent, aerated, and put down fertilizer (miracle grow for lawns). In that order. I put the pre-emergent about a month and a half before the aeration and fertilizer.

Above is a picture of my lawn before I left (how it should look) and the others are what it looked like when I got back. Also are some close ups of the weeds. They have completely taken over my lawn.

Can anyone see a flaw in my process?
What is the weed, and what is the best way to get rid of it?
