Corn Gluten Meal

Will corn guten meal harm my tazetta narcissus I have planted throughout one part of my lawn? I wanted to use an organic pre-emergent weed killer on my St. Augustine. Also, if it won't harm my bulbs, what is the rule of thumb for applying method and amount used?

Thanks,

Ginia

Iowa State Universtiy research indicates that the preferred application rate for CGM is 20 pounds per 1,000 square feet on turf grass. The link below will get you to most all the research they have done on what CGM does although they re in .pdf format which means you need the Acrobat Reader (free and included with most of the newer compuster operating systems).

Ginia,
The CGM will not hurt your bulbs. CGM's herbicidal effects are limited to certain emerging seedlings and it has no effect on emerging perennial plants at all. Its effects are dependent on the weather, and last for about 5 weeks max. Rates range from 20-40 lbs. per 1000 square feet.
