Several do that. Oxalis and bittercress, the latter with the technical name Cardamine.

The "problem" is tht you pulled the weeds so late that they were able to mature their seeds. When you pulled the weeds -- i.e. disturbed them -- the seed pods catapulted the seeds in all directions.

So next year, you get to deal i=with their offspring.

This is called explosive dehiscence, a cool thing except when it happens with weeds. Keep pulling, you'll get 'em!

Over the winter, the cats completely forget about those. So every spring they treat me to the same hilarious reaction when they first step on a bush. It never gets old. Really, I don't mind those at all.
