Roundup can kill it but it will require more than one application.

The key to getting rid of perennials with persistent storage roots is to starve the roots by whatever your choice of method(s):

Kill top by one more techniques.
- Flamer
- Remove green when you see it.
- Hoe, snip, or cut off top.

Hard to believe you can BUY this noxious plant! Dig them out and sift through the soil to make sure you get all the little bits of root. Keep at it. Took me six years to get rid of mine...

It's been about 3 days since I used round up on it. I am planning on also cutting it to the ground. Some of the leaves are turning brown, so I assume that the round up has taken some affect. My question is, how long after using round up should I cut it down? My plan was to use round up, cut it down, round up again, cut it down again.

I also noticed that there was a patch of what I call "wild strawberries"(not sure what it really is) where the goutweed will not spread. It is on both sides of the "strawberries" but the gout won't spread over it.
