That's yer basic green anole (actual color varies from green to gray depending on mood and what's it's sitting on).

Lizards are great! If you have many lizards you are unlikely to have either lots of snakes or lots of spiders.

[The rationale here is that lots of snakes would have eaten the lizards, and spiders would be eaten by the lizards. Either snakes or spiders are worse in dark, close quarters than lizards.]

I also find that lizards, like frogs/toads, serve as a pretty good indicator of the health of my "range". If they're happy, things are in pretty good balance.

Now if I can only get enough lizards to run off the black widows I keep finding. They don't have to risk killing them, just scare them off! I don't mind the snakes. I've already found 2 small ones in the yard this spring.

I saw a show about creating a Anole Habitat. They lay their eggs in loose sandy soil, and they like low bushes to bask on. Maybe if you put in a patch of sand(a few inches deep), you'll get to see the babies when they hatch!

I have plenty of bushes, but they seem to prefer my begonia pot (along with the wren nesting there. We have sand around the kids swimming pool...I think I'll try to build a habitat

I love lizzards. Don't have any in my area, but we had tons of them when I lived in FL.
