My reply won't be any help but I have the same flower in my garden. I read that asters bloom late and I also thought that mine was an aster until I googled the blooming time. They seem to grow straight up and the fleabane seems to be much fuller. I am trying to find also what it is so that I either pull it out as a weed or keep it.

It is fleabane. However plants sold as asters can bloom from early summer to frost. Just depends on what kind.
