how did apply it, did you apply it in slices or did you apply it by sprinkling it around the plant.

I applied about 3 inches- a mix of slices and sprinkling, depending on how it came out of the bag. I used a product called Mainely mulch

My first choice is

, followed by costal bermuda hay then straw. There are no seeds in leaves, usually none in the costal bermuda but can be in straw. Normally, if you have a good three inch layer that is thick enough to block out the day light, little if any seed will sprout and come up thru the mulch. If a few do, they are easy to pull up.

I do not know how much you have to mulch, or what the price of hay run at a local feed store, but one bale of coastal bermuda would probably run around 10 bucks and cover a pretty good sized area. It is fine and covers well. I got {{gwi:289387}} for asking at our local feed store.

Obtain bales in the Fall. Leave them outside and occassionally turn them. The seeds will sprout and die off before you use it to spread.

Also, look for straw NOT hay. Less seeds

what type straw did you use?
if i can get it, i use wheat straw
it will sprout wheat, but they die off if you let it dry out pretty well
