It depends on the active ingredients. I spot treat my flower beds with glyphosate based weed killers often, if it touches foliage the plant dies, but if it goes on to the soil it bonds with it and cannot be asorbed by surrounding plants, it just breaks down in to harmless substances over time.

Some other weed killers, often those used to kill weeds on driveways/paths make the soil toxic and it can be months or years before anything grows there again.

If you can tell us what's in the product we can give you a better idea if it's safe. Or you could go buy a glyphosate based weed killer. Also, it never hurts to call the company who makes a product or visit their web site for more information.

Thanks for the reply Bry84. I use Ace Hardware weed and grass killer. I checked the contents and it has 1.98% glyphosate and rest other ingredients. I checked online at the ace website, but they are sold out of it. Here is a picture of the weeds that I had a tough time with:
