Another Google search doesn't show anything about variegation. Maybe I shouldn't have mowed it over!! (but the weed seeds stick to everything - clothes, my saddle pads when riding, bootlaces, hair, everything!

I hate that I spelled 'variegation' wrong in the title. I know it's not "variAgation."

My brain knows better but those fingers are sneaky! If I'm not paying close attention when I type, they are like, "V..A..R..I..must be going to type 'variation!'..A.." and change the "e" for an "a."

I think you might get some enlightenment on name-that-plant forum, if you haven't already put the pics there. Some days I don't look at that.

I haven't put the pics there mostly because I didn't get a good pictures of the flowers. I can probably find another plant to get clearer pictures. I see this weed all too often but never noticed the variegation.

I think your weed may be a Bidens, perhaps B pilosa or alba, as you surmised. As to the variegation, have you or your neighbours used any hormone weed killers around there? That can throw up weird discolouration.

No weed killers here. It is (or was) one of a bunch of the same plant under a pindo palm tree. We have this weed here, there, and everywhere and I've never seen one with the variegation before.

I sort of wish I hadn't cut down that particular one. I need to go see if it's grown back, and if so, if it still has the variegation. (though I have mowed once or twice since I posted this topic)
