I don't have mine here to check, but I think the Sunset Garden Books are primarily landscape plant material and not weeds.

You might try "Weeds of the West," available as an extension publication.

Thanks weed. I'd wondered if the "weed" designation was the reason. However aren't some weeds not weeds to some people? The Sunset book has purslane listed as a weed, but it also lists it in the regular plant section. Maybe because it's an edible to some of us? I'd guess that those editorial sessions were interesting.

That's true, especially with purslane where there is a garden purslane that grows more upright and is easier to pick clean as it's not crawling along the ground.

Nettles have some herbal uses so you might try checking out herbal plant books for them. I can't think of any thistles though with edible or herbal uses.

Weed, You might want to check your grocery store for articokes and cardoon. Some natural food stores also carry milk thistle during the season. With all the new products on the market you will find thistles and nettles added to many things. Glance at the teas.

Yes, but I was thinking of weed type thistles, like Canadian, Bull, and Star. Health food stores carry lots of weeds.............
