Greens

The CG x GG - 2 is an off type from the Cherokee Green x Green Giant cross. It is much more pale yellow and is starting to get a blush of pink on the blossom end. I expected that because the CG seed I used last year wasnt stable. I havent tasted any large ones yet.

The GBTY has the better balanced taste and is earlier. It is also a stable line now. 1-2 I havent tried yet. It's plant habit and yield are not as good as 3-1. 3-1 is slightly sweet and tart tasting. It is also highly productive and earliest. It has decent texture. None of these come from GG, CG or GMG. DrG is sweet if dead ripe. It has small seeds and it mostly gel. The flesh has an astringent like aftertaste even when ripe. Both plants of it have been poor producers. It predominately has the straight truss orientation and the others have branched trusses.

I was glad to see the other lot Craig sent of CG has come "true". The fruit on the GMG PL are different. A few are normal but some are almost like little hearts. This plant was isolated and located in a drier area. Maybe that environment effected it's fruit development. It has and is cranking out fruit but the plant is still not even 5ft high yet. It was also the first of any of the larger greens.

I still have 3 other green lines to ripen.
