Moving Virginia bluebells?

I have a smallish colony of Virginia bluebells blooming now - I'd like to transplant some to the front yard - does anyone know the optimum time to move? I always forget about them once they die back, and besides, I'm never sure where to dig. Can I move some now?

I would move them after they bloom.

Either when you first see them or when they are dying back. In either case, they probably won't bloom the next year.

They can be moved while in bloom. During a gentle rain or on a cloudy day early morning or late afternoon. If they are mature plants they will have an extensive root system.
