I was considering slate for my new kitchen reno but ran scared when I read that if it scratches the SS shows through real shiny....yikes

Just got our slate appliances yesterday and LOVE them. Needed a range hood and paired it with a Broan stainless and am thrilled (looks great)!

All stainless seems to work well with the GE Slate. I had to choose a zero degree hinge microwave oven which GE did not make anymore. The only one available was a Whirlpool and it's stainless works great with next to the GE Slate double ovens. I also had to choose a gas cooktop. Dacor's stainless gas cooktop looks and works great!

We've had out slate appliances for about 1 year and we love them! I'm in Canada but we picked up our gas range in the US.

Paired with an $80 Broan stainless hood and love it! Didn't want to invest too much in case we decide on a microwave. Love love slate! Tons of compliments!

we are doing a total kitchen reno. I have purchased all the appliances in Slate. My cabinets are a cherry burgundy and my countertop is Corian mojave. Any ideas for backsplash, hardware and faucet would be greatly appreciated. Also, we wanted a counter depth fridge in slate. Went for the side by side. Anyone have a side by side and can tell me if they like it or not. I have had a bottom freezer french door in the past and wasn't happy. Thought I would try something new

4 of 4 GE Slate Profile kitchen appliances arrived dented, scratched or warped. Damage appears to have been done at factory & shipped as is. Remediation is becoming a nightmare. NOT recomended.

GE remediation is a nightmare - my stove came scratched and they were all willing to replace the part that was scratched until they found out it was the instrument panel. The guy changed his tune immediately and said, "well, how do I know you didn't do it"? The dishwasher leaked (a part), and damaged our laminate floor. It's only been in use for about a year. When I called to get the part, I was told to call another number, but that they were closed. Now the part is on back-order. I gave up. I found it through a different source. None of our repair companies will deal with GE, so I couldn't have anyone come out to look at the scratches to get them repaired. The company is a nightmare to deal with! I like the slate, but now that it is coming out through different companies, if I could I would change them all out for another company, not because I don't like the appliances, but because I am not happy with GE.

OMG. GE was one of the best appliance mfrs with great customer service - not so anymore. Both are damaged dishwasher and microwave have been sitting in our living room for a week. Not impressed. We have advised the retailer that if all 4 appliances are not fixed within the next week we will return them and purchase another package by a different mfr.

We just purchased all GE slate appliances. They won't be delivered until February because we are rebuilding our home due to the flood. After reading some of the comments I'm getting a little scared about dealing with GE. Maybe I should reconsider stainless

There are a number of other companies who carry the new finish. I think Kitchenaid is one. I'm not unhappy with the appliances so much as I am disappointed with GE. If I had it to do over again, I would go with a different company. In fact, I said this just the other day to my husband. The slate is awesome, though. The stove cooks nicely and the fridge is awesome. This dishwasher is quiet and cleans the dishes well.

We've had ours since May and love them. No issues.

Another issue I'm having is if one of the appliances quits working will the slate be around to replace it

So far, my General Electric appliances in slate have made me happy and they truly are fingerprint free. I've only had them for 2 weeks. I'm hoping they last a very long time. But, so far I do not regret the appliance choices.

Beautiful. Our appliances are working fine just have been waiting for replacements for scratched parts for 3 months now.

We have had our slate appliances for 2 years and everything is well. I do like the kitchenaid black stainless steel appliances but am very happy with the slate. They look good with everything and would match if a stainless steel appliance was dropped in.

Anyone have any trouble with the Slate finish rubbing off? I've read that a lot of people are having issues with the black stainless steel appliances.

Nope, no such problem. Have had the fridge in Slate for 1 year in a home with kids and pets, with magnets on the door, grubby hands on the handles, etc. The fridge has been bumped around, because we store a foldable stool between it and the cabinets, and we're undergoing a kitchen remodel for good measure. No ding on the fridge.

We have had our slate appliances, frig, stove and dishwasher for 2 years and we have had no problems with the finish. I am interested in knowing what to use to clean the outside of the appliances though. For the ceramic cook top, I use the ceramabryte yellow cook top cleaning pads with the Barkeeper's friend liquid cleanser, works great. But I have not found a satisfactory cleaner for the outside of the frig and dishwasher. Thanks in advance.

We got GE appliance in Slate - fridge, microwave, double oven dishwasher, and as soon as they are available we will replace our cook top and warming drawer with GE in Slate! I love the look and it's so easy to care for - damp cloth and dry cloth are all that these appliances ever need and I believe that is all that is recommended for their care.

I think that the merge or buyout of GE to Haeir is complete so service issues will probably be settled more routinely now. But none of our appliances had scratched and no issues so far - the fridge and dishwasher (which is so quiet it's hard to tell if its on) were installed in November but had to wait on the double ovens to have the space for that appliance redone to accommodate a double rather than single oven. It was installed in the nick of time to do some baking for Christmas (2016) and it did great. Our redo in the kitchen included new quartz countertops in Solare to replace granite, the backsplash is Emperador dark marble,and we had the cabinetry refinished in a dark stain. For the Island we had a walnut top made and the island itself is painted Latte. Everyone who sees the "new kitchen" is very complimentary.

I would love to see pictures of your new kitchen. Yes, the frig and dishwasher are very quiet. My understanding is that Bosch and Miele dishwashers are the benchmarks for quality but on these boards I read numerous complaints about the Bosch. I considered induction cooktops because of the rave reviews (we have electric and I much prefer gas), but we liked the slate and we would likely have had to buy new cookware. For a mid price line, the GE slate are terrific.

Here are some photos of a renovation of a cream condo kitchen with GE Slate appliances. I was told to stay clear of stainless in a kitchen that was close to the beach. I was told the salt air pits the stainless in a short amount of time by my builder. The countertop is a quartz with chips of dark gray and black. I love the slate and there is more time to enjoy the beach!!!

We needed new appliances end of 2016 and we chose the GE Profile set in slate although we had some concerns on longevity of the finish , I have to say so far so good! We love our new appliances, the finish has been great and easy to keep clean!

We don't want an over the stove microwave. We rarely use a microwave and only use a very small size. What color do you get in a microwave if you buy slate appliances in everything else?

I'd suggest stainless.

A stainless microwave oven would look nice with the GE slate stainless handled appliances. As a matter of fact, if anyone has failing stainless appliances and are desiring to go GE slate, the GE slate appliances would look nice as you blend-out your other stainless appliances. In the past my husband and I had failing cream appliances and as they started to fail on us, we did not feel we could have one stainless and the others all cream. This is not so if you would be switching from Stainless to GE Slate.

We kept our old black microwave but when it dies, we plan on stainless. I went with a stainless Broan vent over the stove and it compliments the appliance handles!

I live in a condo and am just getting ready to purchase the GE slate appliances for my kitchen. I have white cabinets, oil rubbed bronze pulls, faucet and pendant lights. I'm also getting new Snowflakes granite installed. What color under mount sink should I go with? Will a double stainless be the ticket? I want to steer clear of white. Is there a sink that matches the slate appliances?

We have a stainless under mount sink (with new Venetian gold granite counters) and it looks fine with the slate appliances. Our hardware is oil rubbed bronze and we have a white tile backsplash. Hope that helps!

Definitely go with the stainless. The handles on the slate appliances are stainless. We have the same color scheme. Looks great!

Blanco makes regular and under counter sinks and faucets and the cafe brown looks great with the slate appliances. We have a small GE countertop microwave in slate. I have it in a microwave nook though so it looks built in.

Stainless is fine because the handles of the slate appliances are a dark stainless.

I chose Metallic-Gray Blanco granite sink. It is the color of the slate appliances and doesn't stain. I absolutely LOVE IT!!!

So the Metallic-Gray Blanco sink is the same color as the appliances? Thanks for the tip. I understand the Pfister Pasadena Single Handle Pull Down Sprayer kitchen faucet with soap dispenser in Slate matches as well. Just wondered if I went with the sink and faucet that matched, if that would be TOO matchy? Or if a brushed stainless faucet with Metallic-Gray Blanco sink might look cool.....

I am not familiar with the Pfizer product described in the previous comment but I have a brushed stainless faucet and it blends very well with the handles on the GE Slate appliances

Has anyone matched the Blanco sink in the color Cinder with the GE Slate Appliances? It looks like the best match with the granite I'm getting.

Has anyone been able to find the correct touch up paint for the slate refrigerator cabinet. The GE parts department has sent me 3 different colors of gray, and while each have promised to be the correct touch up paint, they were not. It must be a GE secret what color paint they use for the refrigerator cabinet.

For our new build we went with the frigidaire pro series/ ss , which is supposed to be smudge proof, as when we were looking could not find a counter depth fridge & was concerned about the/a hood vent, do they make a matching hood vent now?? I really did stop & think about the slate for a bit.. but wasn't sure of it was going to be success or not..

Interested in the slate appliances but just a bit worried they will be too gray for my brown kitchen. Any input? Thanks

I have cherry cabinets and a hard wood floor in my kitchen so I added a light colored counter top to brighten it up. We like it. We did have dark countertops and cream appliances originally. I like the light countertops better and lobe the maintenance free slate.

Just purchased the fridge, range, mw and dw in the GE Profile in slate. Does anyone have a Delta faucet in arctic stainless and the GE slate? I am concerned that Delta arctic is too bright of a stainless and will not match the slate appliance handles. The Delta arctic matches the Kohler Undertone sink that I picked out.

The fridge in the photo missnicole731 shared looks like black slate, not slate? But the dishwasher looks like slate? I'm trying to figure out how GE Slate would look with natural maple (fairly light stain) cabinets, vs GE Black Slate

It's just the lighting. They are both Slate. That picture has cherry cabinets -- the slate looks best with a light - medium brown. It's no longer a big trend because new kitchens have moved to painted light wood and lighter colors and this medium warm grey does not go that well. Your light maple might still work well, though, and definitely better than a black slate (and cheaper). The other nice thing about the color is that it meshes well with a warm stainless steel. I have a Cafe stove in stainless steel and a stainless steel hood and they work seamlessly with the slate fridge and dishwasher.
