Yep, my mother was definitely too accommodating!

I am so glad y'all came up with painting the formal set white. I have a set in oak that I have mentioned selling. Going to show the pictures to my daughter of similar sets painted white and see if her or one of her skilled friends would like to buy it now.

Love hearing about where you all reside. I'm guessing I am the most rural of the bunch... 40 miles from the nearest Target or Starbucks,16 miles from the nearest grocery store and 3 miles down a gravel road.
Can you guys see me yet?????????
michigammemom, I'm not far behind you. Our town has no Target or Starbucks, but I can get to the nearest grocery store in about 10 minutes. *L* Target and Starbucks are both an hour away. However, we do have wild turkeys strolling by the front porch, deer that look in the back door and beaver lodge on the creek. I'll take that over Target any day.

BobbiP? Is that you??? I hear your voice, but I can't see you! *L*
  • 14 years ago
I've been leaving comments everywhere all day!!! But they just keep disappearing. I was having issues with using Houzz so I think they took me off line for a while. But I'm back now, with a vengeance!!!
Did you anger the houzz gods BobbiP? *L*
You are so right creeser. I live on an inland lake, so we have loons, bald eagles, deer and even the occasional moose or black bear to keep us entertained.
Yes! Of course I did! What was happening was, if someone liked a comment I made, I couldn't see who it was! So I felt bad for not "liking" their comment too. Also, if I tried to pull up a photo, or product or any kind of image, I would click on the drop down list and it would disappear. Seriously annoying!

So this morning I started talking to you guys about 2 AM and everyone kept ignoring me like I wasn't there, which I wasn't apparently, and I started to get hurt feelings (boo hoo) and then I realized no one was seeing my comments. What ever!!!
Bobbi P what did you do? Did you pick a fight? Did someone call you old? I was worried. So were the girls. We aren't sure if the CA jails have internet.
michigammemom - what is your real name?
judyg, you twit! California jails! No, the big earthquake hit and swallowed me up. Didja miss me?
BobbiP, we'd never ignore you Precious! And if you go to jail, let us know. We may want to join you. More fun with company. *L*
  • 14 years ago
Ok, that's a deal, if I end up in jail I'll be sure to invite everyone. Well, now that I started a project because of lack of Houzz, I have to finish it. But I'll be back!
michigammemom, don't you just love all that wildlife? I have friends ask me if I'm scared living out here. Told them the wildlife doesn't scare me. Living in town with all the thieves and druggies would!
I want to hear more about this inland lake thing. I am surrounded by ocean but I can get my morning coffee and a bottle of wine. (Priorities).
Post pictures! Now that you started OLLD, we get to critique all your projects and tell you what you did wrong. ;)
judyg, you both need to post pictures of your views! Nothing like living vicariously.
We built our retirement home on Lake Michigamme (hence the screen name). It is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. My view was stunning about two weeks ago with the autumn colors, but sadly our leaves are all down.
My daughter has a good camera. Next time down, I'll have her take some pix. Did you girls ever see the tansu ideabook? My daughter, Leigh, posted her Boston condo for Charmean to see her collection of Asian.
No, didn't see it, but just looked it up. Those are beautiful pieces!

The Little House on Cape Cod · More Info

I will in the meantime show you where I live. If you go to the right of the words CAPE COD that body of water is called Pleasant Bay. I live north of that just after where the Bay ends. Ten minutes northwest of my house is a completely different body of water, Cape Cod Bay. South is Nantucket Sound where the water is a little warmer. The ocean even smells different there. It is unusual as we have such different water and yet it is all the Atlantic. Love it here.
I'm back. This house is a disaster house!
judyg, sounds absolutely beautiful. I'm such a beach person. Not the commercial, ten thousand tourists type of beaches, but more quiet places.
BobbiP, welcome back! Wanted to make sure you know we can see you.
Thank you, I appreciate that! What's funny is, the comments I made on design dilemmas all stuck! Just the comments to you all that have disappeared. So what's going on?
As the youngest of 3 children BobbiP, let me state... I didn't do it!! *L*
  • 14 years ago
What is your "disaster house" doing that is so disastrous, Bobbi?
I truly believe the house is jinxed, or maybe this is normal? It seems like every project we tackle snowballs into something ridiculous. My kitchen cabinets have that awful bar in the center so the doors don't leave a void when you close them. So I've been slowly eliminating it and today I tried to do two more and it's just going crazy! Whatever! Some of it is the idiot flippers fault, tho. But we did get the icemaker hooked up and it's working so that's a good thing.
That's not being jinxed, that's just normal.
Is it really normal? It's frustrating!
So what is everyone up to today?
There's a great old comic song about that by Flanders and Swann (one of my son's favorites) called "The Gas Man Cometh"
Grading papers endlessly! Midterm grades due Monday, so it's a weekend long project with crucial Houzz breaks for sanity. Hubby does crossword puzzles; I do Design Dilemmas.
feeny, your son has a great sense of humor, that's exactly what it feels like here sometimes!
    last modified: 14 years ago
He is ALL about humor, day and night. But it is such a classic homeowner's song, I think everyone identifies.
Hubby is a prof, too? Do you have an assistant? But they probably can't grade papers, huh.

You should have seen me talking to you this morning when I was "gone"! I kept saying feeny this isn't funny, tell me you see me???? And nothing!
You were like Harvey the Invisible Rabbit! Poor baby!

No assistants; no graders (and actually I like it that way--nothing worse than seeing someone else give advice you disagree with about a paper. I'm a control freak and need to do it all myself.)
Yeah, I'm a control freak too, and that is what makes my disaster house frustrating.

Also, do you remember the post about the boob light? I wanted to add "And they usually come in pairs" but I had to bite my tongue then too. Hilarious!

This thread is getting so long, we need our own facebook page. The deer are eating my back yard. They visit for lunch everyday, sometimes breakfast and dinner, too. I took a pic of two of them today, they just glared at me as if to say, "what are you looking at lady?" I miss having our dog to chase them into the woods.
I agree, I wonder how long they'll let us keep the discussion going. How kind of you to feed all the deer!
You know, we could start a new OLLD everyday, just add the date at the end like OLLD 10/20/12 or something.
Can you guys still see me, or am I missing again?
I can see you Bobbi. It was dinner time for the east coast.
Like the idea of doing a different feed everyday with the date.
Judy M, when we were building this house, the deer would come to the back door and look in. I wonder how many came in and browsed when we weren't here. *L* My issues with them are about to start. I'm going to do a bunch of raised beds in the front and then for next year, I'm going to plant a pumpkin patch!
creeser, sounds good! I'll start one tomorrow, if that's ok, call it OLLD 10/21? I don't think we need 2012, we're not THAT old!!!
Everyone have a great Saturday night, see ya tomorrow!
I think I have the Bobbi P virus thing going on with me and Houzz today. I get the messages in my inbox, but every time I try to ope, the new messages are not there. The last one I can read is from Bobbi P saying for us all to have a good night.
All of the posts from Bobbi that no one could see, just came through this morning. *L*
