Yes, a particularily lovely columbine. It seems to have seeded itself into the cracks of a walkway.

I have a similar situation with columbines planted near a
arbor. The soil is small rocks, with large flat pathway rocks.

The columbine seems to love the drainage of rocky soil, and the shade of nearby trees.

I hope you treasure these lovely plants and scatter the seeds all over.

Columbine does not like to be moved. Don't worry though, you will get plenty of seeds to plant. The seeds do not always grow true to the mother plant though but you will still get a pretty flower. The seeds do like to scatter on their own and in can be considered rather invasive. Wild Columbine is difficult to eradicate. It cannot be pulled easily and seems to be herbicide resistant. I've got a whole bunch growing in the crack between the sidewalk and the garage door and can't get rid of it.

Your Columbine is a lovely hybrid (or descendant of a hybrid.) It's not our native, Aquilegia canadensis, which is a nodding red and yellow flower.

I've had hybrid and wild (native) Columbines in my gardens for years, and it's fun to see where new ones will pop up, and what new colors are produces every year. The native ones come true to color, and so far one of my Hybrids, 'Nora Barlow', a double form, reseeds true to color. Mine haven't become invasive, but the natives spread faster than the hybrids.

You are lucky to have a purplish blue variety. After the flower is finished blooming, let the seed pods dry completely, then open them, or crush them between your fingertips, and scatter your seeds in an area where you'd welcome some new plants. It's fun!
