Thessaloniki is one of the tomatoes on my short list for trying next year. It is nice to know that they are turning out well for you.

Are they a juicy slicing type or more like a paste type tomato?

Raise, I was very pleased with Thessaloniki last year. Here in an arid part of the West, it seemed right at home. Not a single one split.

The fruits were mostly larger than tennis ball sized. They matured early but not remarkably so. This year, I started plants from saved seed but also purchased seed to see if the company had a different strain that would produce earlier.

I appreciated the flavor and the tomatoes' good looks. They're beauties! Now, I'm looking forward to the first ripe one of 'o8. Only Bloody Butcher and Legend have ripened so far in my garden. We've had some rather wildly fluctuating temperatures this Summer.

Deanriowa - that is a good question. Being so firm, they are kind of in the middle of the juicy/paste spectrum. And yes, Digit, Some ARE more than tennis ball sized, but I think I have a variance here due to weird rainfall. Not sure. BTW I have seeds to try Bloody butcher next season and am looking forward to it.

I am also growing this for the first time but my fruits are perfect egg shape? It is very firm, more like a paste than I thought. She is starting to pump them out but all are definitely egg shaped - exact same size. Piegirl

There is a "Thessaloniki" and a "Thessaloniki Oxheart".

Thessaloniki Oxheart has been widely distributed by WinterSown.Org, if you got seeds from WinterSown you've got the oxheart.

My seeds came from Sandhills. They aren't what I think of as oxhearts - they are just shaped like perfect eggs, smooth, thick walled, somewhat juicy, fair flavor. Piegirl

Any pictures of Thessaloniki Oxheart? I have seeds from 2002/3 and didn't care for the regular Thessaloniki, maybe the oxheart is better. If not, I'll put something else in that spot... pretty sure I got seeds from Earl back then...

Well--just to be different. I have grown Thessaloniki for off and on. The first ones were big-big. They came from a lady in Greece. I saved a lot of those seeds and still using them. Two years ago I grew some out from Diane's seeds and my saved seeds and they both grew the same. BIGGEST matters I ever grew. I'm growing them out again this year and if they do right I'll share some seed. I have so many different types this year. Just trying to find what grows best here.
