? re: big toms

I had a 5 flower mega bloom on an ultimate giant.

It pollinated. I think. the flower didn't drop, and there is a tomato-y looking thing there.

The resulting tomato has stayed nearly the same small size for a month or two now.

The plant itself, as well as other varieties arround it are quite happy. Some even had a couple ripe toms.

Is it normal for megablooms, big toms, or ultimate giant

to stay small for a very long time?

I am seeing the same thing with a couple blooms that have set small maters on my Biz Zac plants.

My Ultimate Giant (a single plant) has NO maters set on yet.
This is NOT normal for those I have planted in previous years.

I don't know if it is because of our weird weather this year or not.

Ultimate Giant is one of my top 5 tomato varieties as a rule.

I can't help wondering if you're seeing the green tomato ovary which is at the base of every blossom and that that blossom never did get pollenized.

If the blossom is pollenized that small green ovary then starts to enlarge and is on its way to becoming a mature fruit in less than a week and you can see it enlarge with time.
