Well, since this is an iconic modern design, including the shape of the glass, I feel confident saying it won't look as good with a rectangular top. Why do you feel so strongly that you need a rectangle on top of such an organic base?

Thanks for the input. I like the table as is and would just buy it. But it's a little small (I think) for where I want to put. I want a table to use between 89 inch and 79 inch sofas that will be positioned in a perpendicular l-shape. I happen to just really like this base. The standard Noguchi 'might' work. I'm just concerned there won't be enough table for the smaller sofa and also that it will look a little funny.

Thanks, Carolyn! I would be hapy to keep the existing design. It just needs to be bigger than the standard per your comment in my other thread. If you don't mind, I'd love to have a drawing. Now I would just need to find someone who can do it!

Feel like I should pay you! I think so. The exisiting glass top for it is 50 x 36

Maybe the best option is to buy the existing table and replace then replace the glass top?

If there is a store where you live that carries the Noguchi table, then you could take a tape measure and see how a custom top would fit on it. After that I suggest you price a custom cut piece of glass with those measurements and in the thickness (1/2"?) of the glass on the original table.
