Container Growing

We have access to these big round "tubs" that ranchers around here use - they originally have cattle range licks in them. Some are blue but some are black. I would guess they hold between 10 and 15 gallons of soil. Of course there will be drain holes drilled in the bottom of the containers. I plan on putting some Little Leaf cukes in some of them but have a few left over and was considering putting some Amish Paste tomatoes or possibly even a Brandywine in one. Do you think they would work OK for this?
