Left image is that of one of the many different kinds of leafhoppers. I forget which one, but if you need to know, I can look it up. Leaf hoppers suck plant juices and are sometimes a primary vector of certain plant diseases.

The other picture is that of the Long-Legged Fly, a beneficial predator.

Thanks rhizo!

I don't really need to know a particular name for the leafhopper. I just like to avoid killing the good guys, while not letting the bad ones go. (I watched a squash vine borer for about 15-20 minutes last year, not knowing what it was. I lost 3 zucchini plants and didn't know till much later that it was likely the SVB that did them in.)

I saw quite a few of those Long-Legged Flys all around my yard today. Good to know that it's a beneficial.

It's a Scarlet and Green Leafhopper. Knowing who it is helps you find out what it does to your plants and if you should worry about it.
