not sure..ID help!!!

I'm not sure if this belongs in this forum..I first thought it was a small pine cone caught in a spiders web...but closer inspections show???? Invasion from another planet? Pupae? Any ideas..would love to hear..I've done a search under cats and moths on bug guide and have only gotten through the 1st view pages...

If it is a cat or moth..I live on Cape Cod..coastal Massachusetts...The only cats I ever see are those whooly brown and black type..we also have gypsy and winter moths...but who knows..what ever, If it is alive it is a very brave thing as it has attached itself to the underside of my hanging bird feeder! It is attached with at least one silky thread that I saw...

Thanks ....Mary
