yes webkat that is a comma, the question mark usually has a dash above the outermost small spot and longer tails, sometimes you can even tell them by shape, also question mark is larger....hope that helps! :)))

I'm pretty sure this is a Gray Comma (Polygonia progne). Can we see the side view?

Sure lepalot! Here you go....I hope it is clear enough...

This is definetely a Gray Comma. You can tell by the dark striations and the very thin comma mark. Eastern Comma has a thicker comma mark that is hooked on the end. Where was the picture taken? Gray Comma is usually harder to find than the much more common Eastern Comma. I have never seen a butterfly feeding on a tomato before.

This little fella was found in my yard in Cass County, Missouri.

This little guy was bouncing around everywhere...ADHD :o)...landed on the tomatoes for awhile, then over to rest on the Ninebark and finally went to check out some Coreopsis. He was so indecisive, I was lucky to get the shots I did.

I will have to go google some images of both so I can compare the differences....
