All GE except....?

We are going with stainless GE on everything. Except I really want a completely integrated dishwasher, but their cheapest one is almost 900. Whirlpool and Fridgedaire both offer one in the 500-600 range.

Would I be crazy to mix in one different appliance?

Does GE's stainless match up with the Whirlpool or Fridgedaire stainless? What should I do?

But if you're paneling it - what difference will it make? Or am I missing something?

    Love2cook,
I think the poster is referring to the integrated with a stainless panels with the controls visible only when you open the unit.

I think whether stainless steel matches or not will be very subjective. Are these items directly next to each other, how much light is hitting the surface, etc. I also think that after the first couple of days you won't notice it so go with what matches your needs.

    Good luck!

We had a GE Profile dishwasher before and it was extremely loud. For that reason alone, I am opting to go with a paneled Bosch (to avoid matching issues) while the rest of the appliances will be GE Monogram.

Try to go with a paneled dish washer and then the matching will not be an issue. You never know when any particular appliance will fail. Are you planning to replace them all if one does to keep everything matching? Most of us just try to get the appliance that will work best for use regardless of brand. If the DW isn't next to another stainless appliance, I really don't imagine anyone will notice the non-matching stainless anyway. It really seems that the only time appliances are of all one brand is when builders get a brand-discount when building new homes. I haven't noticed any of all one brand recently when I have been to open houses......

I have seen kitchens where the dishwasher is black, and the rest of the appliances are stainless. Looks quite sharp, not to mention saves $100 or more in skipping the stainless on the dishwasher.

    OP here...

I meant integrated as in no buttons on the outside. Only a flat stainless front.

I have a GE profile induction cooktop-love it except the humming is getting louder so I am going to see about replacing it. GE Monogram ZET1 wall oven-love it now that I have had it calibrated; it was about 25 degrees too cool.
These 'excepts' are minor issues for me, I am genuinely happy with those two appliances. The dishwasher however.... is a Monogram panel ready. NOt happy with it. I had read a couple of postings on GW that lead me to believe I wouldn't be, but I got a really great deal on it. Whether or not all my dishes come out completely clean every time is a little hit or miss. If I had to do it again, I would get a different brand DW

    OP cursivesailor,
if you want a flat stainless front ( = no buttons on the outside = ie. ""fully" integrated"), then stick with the same manufacturer throughout so your stainless is the same throughout the whole kitchen. There are differences in stainless.

Our GE Profile stainless DW is very quiet. We did not get the one with the integrated controls, however, as all of those had the built-in detergent dispenser and require liquid detergent (and I prefer powdered).

But I agree with posters who say that mismatching stainless is not a big deal. We have GE stainless for the DW, fridge and hood and a Blue Star range. The fact that the Blue Star stainless is different is just not an issue. I also agree that a black DW can look good among all-stainless other appliances. I actually wanted to get a black Monogram instead of my stainless Profile, but the Monogram was back-ordered so I went with the available model. Sometimes I regret it.
