What's your hardest-working appliance?

While our refrigerators run constantly, I think the honor of hardest-working appliance in our household goes jointly to our washer and dryer (OK, so maybe this belongs in the laundry forum?). Which appliance gets the honor in your household?

Toss up between the toaster oven and the microwave. Both get used several times a day. Or maybe the coffee maker?

Hardest-working? Probably:

1) Washer - just because of the power/force it needs to tumble and especially spin a heavy load of wet towels

2) Krups hand mixer - this thing we bought in 1991 and it still kneads bread dough like on day one

3) Bosch dishwasher - while not "hard-working" as such, it produces clean dishes every time - even if I stack several layers of dishes in there

Hmm...is most used like hardest working?

Our 1980s electric coil, 4 burner cooktop gets used several times a day. I'm looking forward to its retirement in 2009.

Well, the fridge is on all the time, even if I'm not opening and closing the door . . . . :)

At our house it is, without a doubt, the Jura Capressa automatic espresso maker. On call all day.
The microwave is for storing bread.
The 18+ yr. old Amana washing machine still works hard. As does the 20 year old Amana refrigerator.
Don't make 'em like that anymore, do they???

Hm... Most used, or needing most power?

I use my fridges and freezer most, because a lot more of my food gets cooled than goes in the pantry.

The microwave gets too much use (I'm a big rewarmer).

But it's probably the computer that's the hardest working appliance!

Here it's (1) fridge and (2) washer.

My daughter just observed that Tuesdays and Fridays are the washer and dryer's "day off", except when she and/or her brother bring home something from school or camp that needs washing.

The clock on our microwave works really, really hard.

We could probably have a debate about whether computers are or aren't an appliance. Maybe cross-post it to the paperweight forum?

Well, I keep all my recipes in the computer. I'm more likely to look up a new recipe online than in one of my cookbooks. I've done 90% of the research for my new kitchen on the 'net, designed the layout in Corel Draw, using PSP to capture and size various elements. Also using it to design the tilework. I often purchase doodads for the kitchen online. Etc., etc., etc.

Yep. Invaluable kitchen appliance is the computer.
