LG Kitchen Appliances: Reviews?

Wondering if anyone has any reviews or experiences with the following LG kitchen appliances. Or if not these particular models, any personal experiences with LG kitchen appliances in general. Couldn't find very many reviews of these appliances online, and Consumer Reports doesn't have them listed either. Thanks for any input!

I bought a SS bottom freezer french door fridge, an LG 14 months ago. I did love it, quiet and nice looking. But it died last week. The repair man said he needs to order a new mother/board. He told me it will cost around 375.00. I am not happy one bit about this. Never again will I buy LG

Don't do it, select another brand. We had the line for a year, and the worst part about LG is the fact that if you do need a repair - they take forever to provide parts to the servicer. Most people tend to get pretty frustrated when they're without an item for an extended period of time, and unlike a TV people can't be without a refrigerator or range for 1-2 weeks, it just doesn't work.

So we discontinued carrying them altogether. The scary thing is they reportedly underbid Whirlpool and are now building the Kenmore line for Sears starting Jan 2010. Should be interesting to see if the Kenmore line now experiences the same problems.

A local, trusted appliance store (a small business) I spoke with last week about refrigerators said they chose not to carry LG units because of the repair record.

LG is a fine brand, they break just like any other brand. I have no idea why people say they can't get parts, I get them in a day or two. As for the board failing, all new energy star refrigerators have boards in them and I stock 3 boards for GE in my van, every GE needs a new board. Its one of our favorite brands.
Thats why I think energy star refrigerators are a joke. Number one, the cost of the appliance is more so if you're buying energy star to save money on electricity it will take a few years. Number two, enery star refrigerators have computer boards, damper motors, sensors, gizmos and gadgets. They will break. Does it not take energy to make replacement parts? First the part mfg has to get raw materials from the plastic mfg, wire mfg, steel mfg, etc. Then assemble the part, ship the part to the appliance mfg which ships the part to the part supplier which ships the part to me and I have to drive out to put the part in. Where are we saving energy??? And the repair cost will wipe out any possible savings you hope to achieve on your electricity bill. I have two refigerators, just a basic frig. No boards, no sensors. My refrigerators do not break. I have no idea how a $2500 frig can keep the beer any colder than a basic $800 frig. But I make ALOT of money fixing $2500 frig's.
I have no idea when appliances became a fashion thing. I hear it everyday, my old appliance worked just fine for the past 15 years. Thank god people throw away perfectly running appliances to get new ones, what eles would I do all day. Because people had to have the new colors of appliances the past few years I've been able to buy new cars, furniture and a second house that I rent out. The future is looking good for me.

Well Rick You better get into the SZ's and other "High End Brands"----You could then buy a couple Ferraris (spelling), Benzes---get a home right on the Beach etc etc.
And the work will "Double for Ya" as folks now days have to have 2 Compressors so their beer doesn't taste like Onions?¿? Somehow , I roughed it all my life with just one compressor----course I have never had a fridge failure either, hmmmmm wonder what taste worse? beer with onion tint or warm beer????

Check out this link to JD Power. Just like consumer reports they will have some trouble getting reliability data because the LG brand is so new, but they seem to like the quality and their warranty gets top marks.

range problem with soil getting in glass pane. when spending $900 on a range, I expect it to work properly. How food can get in there must mean it is defective . LG said it is cosmetic, not covered in warranty, so they do not stand behind their product when something is not working properly

In May of 2012, we completely upgraded our kitchen appliances to LGs. It has been an utter nightmare. In 2014 the oven stopped working on the range. We noticed the microwaved door moved lower. The refrigerator actually developed a split in the interior wall underneath a shelf top. And last week, our dishwasher stopped working. All of the appliances that were replaced all worked. They were just white and dated. It is like throwing good money after good money. Instead of constantly repairing them, we will be removing them and going with another brand. We love LG electronics. But will NEVER purchase another LG appliance. Poor quality is an understatement!

I will not buy another LG product again, not for kitchen or TV.

We installed new Studio Style oven and microwave in our new kitchen. Both products have Black plastic panels for operation selection. These panels, however, are not back lite nor painted white for the operation selections. So, I have no way of dialing in what I want the device to do. Oh, correction, I must keep a flashlight near by to shine on the panel to obtain enough illumination for operation.

LG visited me three times until someone called me to advise there was nothing they would do, that that was the way it was designed.

I have no recourse and just threw away $3500 for devices that were cheaply designed. Word of advise when shopping, demand your dealer powers on the device you are looking at so you can be convinced the LG appliance will work.

LG has horrible CS. Customer satisfaction is a foreign concept to them. If you need a part they will pawn you off on a parts company they are affiliated with. I had a tenant that bought a fancy stainless range of theirs. ALL the knobs broke and the two bar handles in the front were silver paint over some black substrate. The black wore though on the edges and we had to throw out a working range as it looked so bad. You would think the handles would be stainless too. Buy another brand!

Like they say, "they don't make 'em like they used to." We had to replace our Samsung refrigerator, which died after only 3 years! We bought this French door LG refrigerator, supposedly Stainless Steel! We've always displayed our collection of refrigerator magnets from around the world, and our children's art work of course, on the front of the fridge. Guess they left out the "steel" part of the materials, it is no longer magnetic, but some sort of plastic composite! Very disappointed!

When we built our new home, two and one half years ago, we bought all new LG appliances. The first year, we had to replace our Easy Clean oven stove. Easy clean heats to 200 degrees for 20 minutes. you don’t even bake cookies at that temp. It never did clean. I’ve had a bearing replaced in my dryer. after one year. Another bearing is going out on it. My refrigerator could not be repaired. I really liked it. The cool ice maker motor quit working. It stopped working in Aug. I started calling LG to have a repairman come. I would be on hold for over an hour. I had to throw out all of my food in frig as well as freezer. I was finally told my frig could not be fixed and I would be sent a check in Sept. I replaced my frig and it was delivered on 9/24. I’m still waiting for a check.

As my appliances go out I am replacing them, but not with LG. Their service is awful.

    Wow, a 10 year-old follow-up.

If you own an LG fridge from 2014 to 2017 you'll want to see if you qualify for compensation from a class-action suit. Deadline Jan 11, 2021. See this:

Well here is my experience with LG. End of 2018 we needed a new refrigerator, bought a SS FRIGIDAIRE AND NO PROBLEMS. We were in the process of remodeling the kitchen so to get a package deal at Orville's appliances we bought the entire kitchen package. LG dishwasher and NOT the cheap one. Got the new cabinets done about 4 months ago and finally got the dishwasher hooked up, 4 months later I just put a new drain pump in. $66 and some change. Yesterday I get the new gas lines run and finally hook up the new LG range. The center burner lights sometimes, the back left one you can see the igniter if about a half of inch lower than the rest of them and can't light the gas. Piece of crap and there again, NOT the cheap range. We have been back and forth from our home in Florida to western NY and I'll just tell the new owner of this home THE BRAND NEW APPLIANCES ARE CRAP. maybe I will discount the house so they can replace them.

I replaced ALL of my appliances with LG appliances. Stove and microwave. Refrigerator and dishwasher and a front loading washer and dryer. Wasn't long, dryer was first, all was professionally installed. Dryer leaked the blue dust you find in the lint catcher. Stuff was all over the house. The washer started to smell bad and grew mold even though they magnetically manged the door to so call "prevent" this. Both are white and still look brand new.

Dishwasher was next, started shutting down before the load was done. Called about all 3, sent a repair man to fix the dishwasher. Nothing for the dryer.. Washer still doesn't work right. Refrigerator middle door grinds and leaves plastic powder everywhere. DON'T use the ice crusher! You will be digging ice out onto your floor for an hour! Recently the only thing I thought worked good was the microwave but the digital numbers started to flicker and now it sounds like a train breaking on the tracks! I've made up my mind to contact them an will insist on a full refund and they should remove this junk. All kitchen appliances are black stainless steel and also look brand new!

LIFE IS HELL WITH LG. LG should change their slogan. My refrigerator just broke today, both the fridge and the freezer are not cooling. I just had to throw away all my food and we are experiencing food shortages. I called just now and they don't have anyone available to fix my refrigerator until next week. Not even a third party that would take LG's service call. This speaks volume to the quality of this brand and the service. In the meantime, the executives are having their best times while people like us down the pyramid are suffering. People stay away from this brand. Model number LMXC23796S. Stay away from LG, there is nothing but headaches. My dishwasher from LG broke last year and they sent 4 different third parties to fix it, instead those independent contractors made it worse. Only then they sent out a tech from LG. Stay away from this company. Let people know about these experiences so they know what they are getting into. The executives are the ones profiting from all of this and they don't care what happens after as long as they are able to push out as many units to people.

I have an LG refridgerator. Hopefully you’ll have better luck than me. Six years in and both ice makers are broken. Warranty is only for one year. I would avoid like the plague. I will never buy from them again.
