Converting tub to shower only

We are remodeling a recently purchased and nearly gutted foreclosure. The master bathroom is down to the studs, and where there was once a bathtub, we will be installing a shower only. (house has two other tubs). The tub had a right hand drain and we are considering using the Kohler Salient REceptor (floor) that is made out of cast iron. I am wondering if perhaps the better decision would be to have the drain recentered to middle of pan and purchase a receptor with middle drain? The concrete foundation is slab/non tension and the stack is adjacent to the left side wall of shower.

Does the drain need to be retrofitted to 2" from the 1 1/2"? Is a middle drain better than the right hand in the cast iron shower pan ?

Thanks!
