Mine is a Casio Exilim and has 7.2 Mega Pixels. I had NO idea how many it had . . . hadn't even thought of it until just this minute! It was a gift from DH several years ago. It's easy to use and takes good pics, although I need to read it's manual again and figure out why some of my close-ups are blurry lately. It was very easy to learn how to work it, too, which is a good thing ;^D

My newest camera is a Kodak EasyShare C913 with 9.2 megapixels and I don't like it as well my last one which is an HP Photosmart M537 with 6 megapixels. Or at least my experience is that it's not as easy or reliable in taking good pics. Neither were expensive, less than $100. Canadian on sale so guess I shouldn't expect miracles! They'd be a lot less than that in the US because of the exchange rate and because things are sold at lower margins in the US.

I've read that for most photography it's not necessary to have a lot of mp but can't remember how many or where I read that.

froufrou...I'd recommend that you go the library & look up digital camera's in "Consumer Report." ...that way you can get the plus & minus' ...price range....and more for your buck! If you have online service to your library, you may be able to look at Consumer Report online.

This is my 3rd digital but I take pics everyday (practically)...mostly nature pics. I have a Sony Cyber-shot, Model DSC-H5, 7.2 MP ...had it a few yrs. now & like it alot..has a 12X optical zoom. And I use Microsoft Photo Suite for my software program but that is old now (as my computer)...if you have VISTA or the new Windows 7, my program won't work.
