bathroom layout help!

I recently purchased a new home and am getting ready to tackle the 1970's design disaster in the master bathroom! I am working on a limited budget, but this layout is just not functioning very well. I know we will need to modify the plumbing, I would just like to keep as much of the footprint intact as possible to minimize the costs. The biggest issue is that there is only 27" of clearance in the main walkway in front of the vanity that leads into the toilet and shower area. This home is in a nice community and the realtor said comparable properties have 5-piece master bathrooms and we should really try to get our master on par. If we can't get both a shower and tub in then we really need to do an oversized shower with multiple heads to bring this in line with the neighborhood. If you go to the website below I have uploaded the current layout (note that the thinner wall areas are pony walls) and a few pics so you can see what I'm dealing with. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much. Michelle
