Three Kings Table...

Today is Little Christmas, Three Kings Day when the Magi arrived, following the star to bring gifts to the newborn King...

So that's the theme of my King Table...

And here's a table I did last night with the new mats and rings I got from W Sonoma outlet....

Merry LITTLE Christmas everyone!

I love the 'Three Kings Table'. I like the look of White, Crystal and Silver accents. Simple yet elegant. Also, once again, those lovely stars. Very pretty. I couldn't help but laugh over your 'Kingly' Menu!!!
Nice buys at W/S. Another nice look using black with those pretty White dishes..are they CTS? Your new placemats add a nice touch with that lovely pattern. You always manage to be at the right place, at the right time, for the Best Bargains!!! lol
I've been laying low, and lurking..I guess all that hectic pace has caught up with me. We had to do a quick trip to NJ over the weekend to DD's and got back late yesterday. In the meantime, I have been enjoying what everyone else has been up to. TFS Kathleen...

I love the Three Kings setting and the menu is pretty cleaver to say the least - great job

While I am not fond of black I do love that setting also - those placemates really make it - another well done setting .....

Lynne, I never liked black either, now I love it..
I think orange is the only color I dislike except for Fall.

Jane, yes the lace plates are from CTS..
Did you see the ones shaped like hearts like that? I got some, they are cake sized...

The plates in the first pic are from the 80's Crown Victoria..Lovelace. From the supermarket.

I have 24, I used to use them for buffets when we had a large crowd....glad I saved them, I thought about getting rid of them when we moved...:)

Thanks, Gail...coudn't think of anything else with King in it...
    Now Heart will be next:)

Little Christmas, or Nollaig Bheag in Irish, is one of the traditional names in Ireland for January 6, more commonly known in the rest of the world as the Epiphany. It is so called because it was the day on which Christmas Day was celebrated under the Roman calendar, before the adoption of the Gregorian calendar. It is the traditional end of the Christmas season and the last day of the Christmas holidays for both primary and secondary schools in Ireland

The name Little Christmas is also found other languages including: Slovenian, where it is known as Mali BoÂiè; Galician, which refers to it as Nadalinho, and also in Ukrainian. It is also celebrated by the Greek Orthodox Church and in the Czech Republic.

Little Christmas is also referred to as Women's Christmas (Nollaig na mBan in Irish), or sometimes even Women's Little Christmas. It is so called because of the tradition, which is still very strong in Cork, of Irish men taking on all the household duties for the day and giving their spouses a day off. Most women will either hold parties or go out to celebrate the day with their friends, sisters, mothers, aunts etc. Bars and restaurants usually have a majority female clientele on this night. Children often buy presents for their mothers and grandmothers, and it resembles Mother's Day in this respect.

While originally a rural tradition, in recent years, Women's Christmas is enjoying something of a revival, both in Ireland and abroad. It is becoming popular in the Irish emigrant communities in Britain, North America, Australia, and New Zealand. For the Irish Women's Network of British Columbia, Canada, for example, this event is the highlight of their social calendar. Per Wiki....

I had never heard of it either...and to think my DD was stranded there today cause of a problem with their plane. And she got pics. I wonder if she realized that was a special day.

Kathleen, love your Kings Table! I went to your blog and saw even more pics of it which were wonderful. I love the silver and crystal together. There is such a nice "glow" on your little gifts in the pic (must mean the soap will make your skin glow LOL!). Your menu is terrifically themed! Sounds like you are doing way too much work for "Women's Little Christmas" as described by twomonths! Hope your DH did the clean-up!

Both settings are very pretty, wish I had your energy, Kathleen! The black is stunning in that setting!

All of my dad's relatives were from Ireland & I never heard of it either, go figure!

Not much more I can add, Kathleen....
That is a truly beautiful table.

Two, thanks for the history lesson. I didn't know all this before. I sure get my horizons broadened on here!

    Yes, we are always learning..
I learned about Wippets from you, Karen!

Thank you Yachter and Karen! It's fun using stuff I have and justifies keeping it!! "Get rid of this stuff. you never use it!" is the mantra around here!

Two beautiful table settings. Love the Little Christmas one, so elegant and great menu.

I had heard of Little Christmas but didn't know that it originated in Ireland.

Late getting to this post, but wanted to jump in and say how pretty it is. I love the crystal looking wreath around the candle holder. I think white, crystal and silver together is my new "favorite". Also really like your new black with floral placemats, and I've always loved those cutout dishes--they just remind me of lace. Kathleen, I think it is so wonderful that you enjoy using all your dishes and accessories. Bet your DH would miss it if you didn't make pretty tables now. I grew up with the "save the good stuff for company" concept and now totally disagree with it--we should use and enjoy the things that make us happy. ;o) Luvs

Oh Kathleen! Nothing makes my heart go "pitter patter" like the classy look of a nice white cutwork tablecloth and beautiful china and crystal. Lots of "bling" there and it's gorgeous!

    Thank you, Bonnie and Luvs...
I agree, Luvs, use it...my mom was the same way...I use my things as much as I can!
