I would go with chairs instead of a love seat. loveseat = too bulky.

Two comfy chairs and a great ottoman that will work for seating as well. I wouldn't do a "matching" ottoman to the chairs, mix it up a bit.

Can you post pictures from differnt angles? It looks like a very small space from this angle, but I think it might be somewhat of an optical illusion.

Is the entire space a dining rom? Or is it a dining room/living room combo?

Without having this info I am going to suggest you use 4 chairs. Two on each side so they are facing each other with a small table between each pair.

What is happening on the other side of the fireplace? And how do you get there? More pictures please.

2 chairs or small loveseats opposite each other on either side of the fireplace with an ottoman that can double as a coffee table in between can work here. I would prefer to see chairs unless the space is much larger than it appears in the photo. I would not recommend any seating facing the fireplace as it will be too tight with your dining table. Use floor lamps for lighting as there is no room for side tables.

I would definitely do a couple of arm chairs, a small side table between and an area rug to define the space as an additional seating area or reading area. Send pics when you've decided on what to do! I'd love to see your solution!

I like the idea of a futon. Not too bulky, you can choose the padding that is right for your comfort and it allows extra sleep area in front of that beautiful fireplace.

I like the thought of a love-seat to create grounding with so many other pieces of furniture in the space. I would replace the two dining table end chars with upholstered chairs that would double for seating at the fireplace? [If you could possible replace the raised hearth with a slab material you're going to gain a lot of useable space].

Is this part of your dinning room and is the fireplace two sided? Can you post pictures of all the angles of the room in question?

I love the idea of two chairs and even a round area rug to complement the fabric of your dining chairs. I would suggest minimalizing the accessories around the hearth though, just focusing on one or two favorite items
