If you have to keep the blinds find a curtain that is softer. If replacing same think of plantation shutters stained to work with your wall color. Stark white is distracting from a well coordinated room.

Put candles in the firplace or a stack of books with a live plant on top or a large plant on the hearth.
Every room should have something living (cut flowers, a gold fish, etc.) in it.

Bring in another color as an accent. Maybe blue (like in the pillow photo)

If it were my house I would hang drapes. I am attaching a picture to show the best way to hang them and one to show how to hang them when you have that little gap between them (as yours have)

I agree the blinds need to go but I am indecisive on weather to get vertical blinds or curtains, and the color of the curtains

Those are from Pottery Barn If you hang them up high and as far to the edge as you can (like the illustration) they will help balance the size of your furniture.

So much is missing! You need a glossy polished coffee table and some pretty winow draperies You need some cerulean blue accents. Can't tell what color your walls are, but you should probably paint them to match your sofa upholstery.

I am clueless about the dining room pics to come, it's empty

The walls are wine, the same color as the color in the ottoman and the same color as the design in the pillows

Hi Kawanda - I love the wine walls, but maybe the overall effect, when combined with the brick and wood, is a bit too visually heavy. FWIW, my living room is *exactly* the same color - we switched from sage green a few years ago. At the time, our painters recommended doing two walls in red and two in something lighter, and I wish now that I'd taken their advice. Maybe you could try a lighter color on at least one wall? We'll be remodeling soon and we'll either remove the wine color from at least one wall or change back to sage. FYI, we also have a lot of brick (fireplace) and wood in the living room too, so your situation reminds me a lot of my own.

You should pick a third color as an accent color. Maybe indigo blue or sage green.

The lamp is gorgeous, but it is too large for the table it is on. You need something a little more substantial.
