tile vs drywall

Had two very interesting meetings with contractors re master bathroom remodel. One said that if we kept the shower/tub combo, that the current trend is to tile only the tub alcove and do drywall on the other walls. I'm so used to older homes with tile going about halfway up the walls. Is it the current trend to do all the other walls in drywall instead of lower part tile and upper part drywall? Seems like it would be more maintenance/painting to keep drywall clean. This is a company that requires you to purchase all the products through them, so I'm wondering if their goal is to recommend whatever takes the least amount of labor to reduce construction time and turn jobs over faster since they make a profit on selling the fixtures and everything else. The house is from the 1960s, so don't think beadboard would be appropriate. So, are people doing all drywall rather than half tile, half drywall in non-shower areas? auzzy
