Sounds silly, but my first line of defense is a diaper wipe. Once, one of my friends spilled a cup of tea on my cream-colored sofa, and another friend "erased" it with a diaper wipe. Since then, I always keep them around.

Next, is soap and water. Blot, then blot again with plain water.

We use the cleaning solution that came with the sofa, but have found that it often takes out the stain but leaves a ring.

You have to be especially careful about getting greasy or fatty food on the sofa, as it's really hard to clean.

I saw you have a young son. My sister and her 3-year-old daughter live with us, and we all eat snacks in the living room, on the sofa. We have a rule that you have to cover yourself before you eat or drink anything. We use our washable throws as covers. It's a bit of a pain, but it stops the greasy fingerprints from a toddler walking around eating. Sometimes, we put a big blanket on the floor and cal it a picnic.

some of the micro-suede is treated to really repel stains- water beads up and runs off like it's oiled...which means that any stains are in the crevices ;)

one of those grabby 'miracle' cleaning cloths and a toothbrush work great for most thing that's dried on anything with a sueded finish- rarely do I need to resort to the fine brass 'suede brush' which I would use very lightly indeed on a micro-suede finish.

beyond that- always start with club soda- it's amazing what the scrubbing bubbles will take out!

I was wondering if anyone knew how to get a smell out of a cushion of a microfiber suede couch? My friend spilt a beer on the couch, I was able to clean the stain, but the cushion still reeks of beer.

a cloth with soppy water that is it then a dry to try or dry with blow dryer. i think is the worst material to make couches sofas etc out of! i'ts extremely delicate and a drop of water leaves a mark!! try to avoid those fabrics.
