I don't have porcelain floors, but I steam clean glass windows and they are fine. The steam coming out of a steamer isn't anywhere near as hot as the temperature that the procelain is fired at (2,000 degrees F). I put porcelain dishes in my oven. Bottom line is that I would not hesitate to use a steamer on procelain.

Porcelain tiles are going to be fine - I have them installed in my steam shower, that I use daily. My tile setter (who is working in my house now) says that once the tile or marble , stone, etc is set - it is very, very strong. You may want to consult the Pros on the Kitchen and Baths Forums.

I use the shark steam mop on my tile floors and they are just fine! No cracks or damage..so go a head, enjoy your mop and clean floors!

Porcelain tiles will not crack from steam heat. Porcelain tiles are baked at a much higher temperature than will ever come out of a steam mop.

On my porcelain tile floors I use water plus alcohol in the Shark steam cleaner.

Steam cleaning is what professional grout cleaners use.

When I was teaching ceramics we baked porcelain decorative items at a higher temperature and longer than regular ceramic items.

I've used a steam mop on my porcelain tiles for 8 years. They're fine :) I also use it on my travertine tiled entry. As an extra layer of cleanliness defense, I put alcohol in a spray bottle and spray the floors before steaming them.

My solution is 50/50. This is what GW'ers have called the "homebrew" for as long as I've been a part of GW (since 2002). It's my go to cleaner in the kitchen for granite, porcelain, and applicances. Along with a microfiber cloth, it makes things sparkle!

Oh goodness yes! In fact, it's one of the best things you can use on natural stone. Natural stone requires neutral ph balance products. So stay away from vinegar or cleaners that contain vinegar or citrus. Soap is not an ideal cleaner either due to the build up (over time) of soap film that will dull your granite. As far as I know it's "safe" but soap is hard to completely remove and over time will dull the look. My daily cleaner is the 50/50 solution. Every now and then I'll used a spray granite cleaner/polish. Glad I could help :) Search "50/50" or "homebrew" on the kitchen forum. You'll get tons of hits (if they made the transition to Houzz).

My tile setter told me to use small amount of vinegar with water, but I like the 50/50 solution. thanks! I have a haan steam cleaner which I've used once. It's so hard to push. Is the pad getting too wet or is it the cleaner? If the pad isn't wet, how can it clean? I'm not loving it. What would we do without the great people on Houzz?

We have “wood like” porcelain tile throughout our home. I want to have it professionally steam cleaned but am worried the high heat steam might damage it. They have a textured matte finish. Will they be ok?

Steam away! I've been steam cleaning mine for over 22 years. Best way to clean my tile that has distressed-like surface.

What about using a steam mop on high polished porcelain tile?

I can't imagine it hurting a porcelain tile that is fired at a much higher temp. But I recently read that if you have epoxy grout, that it cannot be steam cleaned.

I have Italian Energie Kerr porcelain wood look tile flooring in my entryway hall and all bathrooms. They are grade 4 in strengh (the strongest). I wash them with diluted Murphys Oil Soap and they come out beautiful and clean.

I have porcelain tiles on my driveway. Been driving over them, and pressure washing them and abusing them since 2004, and they STILL look great! Strongest tile known to man. Steam isn’t going to hurt porcelain tile. I also have porcelain tile in the house, ceramic tile and wood floor. I steam mop everything. Tile takes any abuse , and honestly no matter what they tell you, the steam dries so fast, the wood floors can take it also.
