Frigidaire Appliances

I have heard some negative things about Frigidaire appliances but wondered if anyone has any positive things to say about their Frigidaire. I realize that all brands can have some problems with some of their appliances, so if anyone actually owns any Frigidaire appliances & has had a positive experience, could you let me know? I need a counter depth side-by-side SS refrigerator & did not want to spend more than $2,000 & the only one I've found is Frigidaire. Thanks so much!

I do. I've had a Frigidaire front-loading washer and dryer for almost four years now and it has done fine. It's not top-of-the-line for front-loaders, but it gets the job done with a minimum of fuss and drama and I'm not reminded constantly that it was about the lowest-priced front-loader I could buy, so I take that as a positive.

I also have a Frigidaire free-standing gas range that's going on two years old now. That has been fine, as well. It's got a couple of power burners, grates across the entire top, a touch-button interface that is not anywhere near as bad as some out there (none of them are exactly great), and also strikes me as a fair deal for the money (especially purchased scratch-n-dent, as I did).

I also had a Frigidaire refrigerator; it was in the house when I moved in. It did its job well, but it was 10-11 years old and way bigger than I needed (a fact I was reminded of every time the electric bill showed up). I replaced that with a KitchenAid, but I would have gone with Frigidaire if I had not found a killer deal on the KA.

No one at Sub-Zero or Wolf or Bosch are losing sleep over Frigidaire. But, then, if Frigidaire charged what some other brands do, they would make better appliances, too. It's a fair trade for what you pay for, IMHO.

I have a Frigidaire electric oven and a dishwasher; both about 3 years old. No problems with the stove. Had a problem with the dishwasher the first year but had it fixed under warranty; no problems since.

Thanks so much steve o & plbeth! I feel much better about buying the Frigidaire. I don't need top of the line appliances but I also don't want them breaking down all the time. At least I know that both of you have them & they're still working.

I have a Frigidaire front load washer&dryer, electric range and a side x side fridge. They are almost a year old and so far they have been great! I think most of Frigidaire stuff is decent for the money. Only thing I wasn't crazy about was their dishwashers.

I have a 9 yr old Frigidaire Gallery refrig that has had no problems other than it is occasionally a little noisy when the compressor comes on. I also know someone who had a SxS Frigidaire that worked fine for the four or so years they had it.

I work at an appliance dealer, and while we see more frigidaire service calls than most others brands, we also SELL 10 times more frigidaire than anything else. The price point causes such a large number of purchases, that obsviously there will be more service calls. When you show a ratio of service calls to total sales, we have a lower percentage of service calls on frigidaire than anything else.

I bought a Frigidaire front loading washing machine (aka Kenmore) and matching dryer less than three years ago. At Christmas when my washing machine was 2 and 1/2 years old the drum broke which I later read was a common problem with these machines. The repair person told me that the cost to fix was not worth it since it would be over $400 so he advised I just buy a new machine. I wrote to Frigidaire to tell them of the problem but they just said they were sorry. No help at all. I threw the machine away and bought a new top loader (Speed Queen). Because of that experience I am staying away from all Frigidaire appliances. I am in the process of looking for appliances for a kitchen remodel and won't even consider them.

When my parents moved into their new condo almost 3 years ago I helped them with their selection of appliances, flooring, fixtures, etc. The builder was supplying all Frigidaire appliances (fridge, stove, MW, washer & dryer) and I had concerns as I, too, had heard a lot of negative things about the brand. The appliance sales person, as well as a service person that I know, told us the same thing as gitfiddle915 said above. They said that a lot of builders supply Frigidaire and if there were a lot of problems with them, they wouldn't stick with the brand. My parents did upgrade most of the appliances from the very basic builder line but stayed with Frigidaire (except for the microwave although I cannot remember why they selected a different brand for that) and they have had no problems with any of them. I agree with steve o--they're not high end; but, they're certainly not trash either.

gitfiddle915 - I feel so much better after reading your reply coming from someone in the industry. Thanks so much!

many_hats - Glad to know your parents have had them for 3 years with no problems. Thanks!

I have the all fridge+ all freezer from Frigidaire. Other than design, form factor, price, I do not have anything positive to say. The refrigerator unit broke for the 3rd time in less than 1 year of operation (thermostat, compressor, defrost thermostat). It's had about 6 weeks of downtime resulting in food spoilage so far. Plus, I had one of its 1/8 inch (thin) glass shelf explode on me literally. I can't recommend this brand.

i know a couple of people with the ranges who are very happy. looking at consumer reports, they come in very well on repairs for the ranges, but lower for dishwasher and refrigerator. i'm planning to get a frigidaire range, but will probably go with whirlpool or ge because of repair rates.the new integrated design frig. dishwasher is very nice-looking, though.

We have a frigidaire gallery electric range. We bought it for our basement. It is really a very nice range. It has 5 burners smooth top and two power burners. It also has 3 racks in the oven which I really like. I have used many of the features and so far have been nothing but pleased. We bought it used from an older lady that brought her coil top with her when she moved nearer her son, and wanted to keep her old appliances so all the ones in the house were sold.

I bought the Frigidaire Gallery kitchen package when I built my home. Range lasted 4 years, after a few $$ repairs it stopped working. Dishwasher lasted 5 1/4 years, the last year it worked it was very very loud. Microwave lasted 6 1/2 years. The s/s icemaker/water frig has been problem after problem but is still ticking along although water is pouring out the bottom and I can't use the bottom section basket of freezer because there is mounting frozen water. I refuse to spend anymore money on it. Bit by bit I have been replacing everything. I have a hard time remembering a time when all appliances were working at the same time, seems at least one was needing repairs or didn't work at all.

We put Frigidaire appliances in our condo about three years before we sold, so that's how long we used them. No problem whatsoever. Basic, but solid.

We had the 30" slide in range, regular style fridge and basic dishwasher - all in stainless.
