Just bought a home with crime colored woodwork and I love it. Different than anyone I know so that makes me like it that much more

Hi, congrats on building a new home, dreams do come true!!! :-) Firstly, you can never go wrong with white, its gorgeous and goes with everything....now the wood is beautiful too but you have to be careful what wood tone you pick as it can look outdated in a few years or the tone may not go with everything but if you pick the light/ airy wood, it will be just like white....gorgeous and matches everything. I have attached pics of how perfect white molding is and how perfect the wood can be with the right wood tone. Hope they inspire! (photos courtesy of BHG).

Now I can really up the confusion! My neighbor had a color consultant and she suggested a coordinating color that went beautifully with the walls. It looked so updated and my neighbors trim won't be showing dirt and dust as quickly as most. Ultimately though, do what you like rather than what you think people expect. Most of us expect plain ole ordinary. Factors like pets and kids, and the light, are worth thinking about. As for me, I have both white and stained windows and trim. Some windows were big investments and the stain matched the furniture. ( white & stained trim are not in the same rooms)
