As someone who suffers with a 24" oven, I can honestly say I could care less about a big turkey or a prime rib. But talk to me about finding cookie sheets, roasting pans, large casserole dishes, etc. that both fit in the oven and allow proper airflow, and I'll tell you how my oven trumps my cheap old cabinets, $1 vinyl floor, and shattered but still-working ceramic cooktop as the number one thing I look forward to when I FINALLY gut and remodel my kitchen.

I'd love to have a small secondary (and possibly more often used) oven, but I can't imagine purposely making 24" my biggest oven unless there was an overwhelming design constraint associated with it.

That said, who makes 24" ovens anymore other than Kitchenaid (questionable oven quality) or European brands ($$$).

Lisa, you are having as much luck as I had asking about a 24'' oven. Manufacturers offer what sells. It's not smaller ovens, apparently. Small ovens with nice features are very hard to find. For smaller kitchens and/or small households, a 24'' oven makes a lot of sense. The cabinet is smaller, it should take less time to heat, use less energy and use smaller pans (which store in less space).

If resale is a priority, only 24'' ovens would not be desirable. We aren't thinking of resale; however I also want a larger second oven 27'' or 30''. Economics may have the final say, though. Two wall ovens are more expensive than a double oven package.

Gaggenau has a beautiful new 24" oven. I brought my half sheet pan (from Crate & Barrel) to the showroom & it fit perfectly. The interior is almost as big as the older 27" model.

Also you can cook directly on the "pans" that come with the oven.

I have also been looking at 24 inch ovens. In addition to the brands listed above there is also AEG, now merged with electrolux. They make a speed oven, steam oven and several regular convection ovens all in 24 inches.

Miele is coming with the 5000 series -- which includes several 24 inch ovens. They are "advertised" to be larger inside than the current 4000 series.

Delonghi also makes a gas and electric duo in 24 inches. Eurostoves stocks it.

So there are at least a few good options in various price ranges.

Would love to buy an Advantium but alas, 27 inches is the smallest.

Just a quick question--It's late and i may have missed something, but why are you only considering a 24 or 30" and not a 27? That's what we have and are very happy. We have a small family and so oven size isn't paramount, but a 24" oven to me is a compromise. We didn't get the 30 because it seriously reduced my cabinet space.

Compumom-- don't know if you're talking to me, but I am looking at 24 because in my kitchen every inch counts. The ovens really should go on the same wall as the rangetop as this wall is already deep enough and there are no other walls that will work as well -- plus that keeps the ovens near the rangetop. If I go to 27 inches I am compressing the area for the rangetop and so, for me, personal choice, would rather allocate the inches to the rangetop and the area around it. I have an old 27 inch oven now and rarely use it because it is just too large for our little two-person meals. I use a toaster oven instead! So 24 inch ovens will be fine.
